China Southern Transports 110 Million Passengers in 2015

An Airbus A330-300 aircraft performing flight CZ3580 from Shanghai landed smoothly at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) at 10:58 p.m. on December 31, 2015, marking China Southern Airlines (CZ) operated its last flight of the year. During the past 12 months, the carrier transported over 110 million passengers and operated 716,000 aircraft movements with 1.76 million hours of safe operation.

 

The Guangzhou-based carrier accomplished a total turnover of 22.38 billion tonnes kilometers in 2015, up 13.1% year on year. It also reported a 5.5% increase in cargo volume to 1.51 million tonnes, with 8.3% growth in annual passenger volume.

 

China Southern ended the year with a total of 507 aircraft in service including Airbus A380s, A330s, Boeing 777-300ERs, and 787 Dreamliners, ranking the first in Asia and the fifth worldwide by terms of fleet size. The airline operates 2,000 flights daily heading to 195 destinations among 40 countries and regions around the world, connecting to 1,052 destinations among 177 countries and regions via the extensive shared network of SkyTeam Alliance.

 

In 2015, China Southern has opened 98 air routes to 54 cities in 36 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, with 550 flights weekly. Furthermore, as many as 1.13 million people taking China Southern flights to Australia and New Zealand in 2015, increasing by more than 20 times from 53,000 in 2009. The airline has become the largest air carrier from China to Oceania, Southeast Asia and Central and West Asia.
