IDS is an independent engineering and systems technologies company providing research, innovation and products in the electromagnetic and air navigation fields for both civil and defense applications. Since 1980 IDS has specialized in providing consulting services for high-tech engineering projects and in developing integrated software solutions and measurement systems. IDS has a strong customer focus and is committed to meeting customer requirements with high quality innovative solutions.
IDS is an international company with around 500 professional employees who are mostly graduates in electronic, telecommunications and aerospace engineering.IDS’s headquarters are in Pisa, Italy and it has subsidiary companies in Australia, the UK, Canada and Brazil.

Research Laboratories and Divisions
IDS consists of a set of laboratories and 4 divisions: Aeronautical, Naval, Air Navigation and GeoRadar. The laboratories utilize IDS’s expertise to research and develop new products and services in a wide range of areas from satellite antenna design to flight procedures and from naval and aeronautical stealth design to ground penetrating radars. In addition, the laboratories provide consultancy and measuring services.
The Naval Division provides support and advice to navies,shipyards and the naval industry on optimizing a ships electromagnetic performance and environment. The Naval Division supports naval projects throughout the ship’s entire lifecycle to maximize the probability that the ship can successfully meet its operational requirements. IDS’s expertise includes topside electromagnetic compatibility and antenna systems performance evaluation as well as the reduction and control of radar and infrared signatures.
The Aeronautical Division provides avionics and electromagnetic engineering support in the form of software tools, measurement systems and consultancy services to aeronautical industries and defense ministries.These activities include the design of flight control systems and avionics aids as well as electromagnetic prediction and measurement tools, specifically radar cross section and infrared signatures, electromagnetic compatibility/interference and antenna siting analysis.
The Air Navigation Division develops and supports highly customizable commercial software solutions for both civil and military customers in the aeronautical fields of communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management. It provides integrated systems for instrument flight procedure design and ground validation,a comprehensive suite of applications for aeronautical information management, navigation aids performance assessment, radar siting and electromagnetic compatibility analysis.
The GeoRadar Division designs and manufactures a comprehensive suite of ground penetrating radar for geophysical applications, such as utility mapping, civil engineering, geophysical surveys etc. The division offers the most advanced solutions, based on multi-channel and multi-frequency technology, for satisfying the most demanding needs. The division also pioneered the introduction of the innovative IBIS interferometric radar for monitoring movement and deformations in slopes and structures.

IDS has subsidiaries in the UK, Brazil, Australia and Canada.In addition, IDS has acquired Ubitech Technologies also in Canada.
